A little about me and why I'm dedicated to helping Pitbulls
Hi, my name is Elayne and I thought I would take a minute to introduce myself, tell you how pitbulls won my heart and introduce you to the fur babies that share my home. Asia is my female Pitbull, she is 7 yrs old. She was found walking the yellow line of a busy roadway. We did locate her owner but to make a long story short, she came to live with us at a little under a year old and has been with us ever since. Brinks is my male Rottie, he is 8 years old. He is a big love bug with us but he takes his role as protector very serious and he requires special handeling. Niki is my male cat, he is 10 yrs old. Niki and Brinks are buddies, Niki and Asia agree to disagree about who runs the house. Asia and Brinks have very clear roles in the house. Brinks is the protector of the home but is very willing to step aside and let Asia be the pack leader as long as she is willing to get out of his way if he perceives a threat to the house or to me. There is a lot of work that goes into monitoring everybody but we have a good system and it works great for us.

I'll admit right here that up until Asia came into my life I was one of the people that thought pitbulls were vicious animals that were only owned by drug dealers and people who fought dogs.
Then Asia walked in and the rest is history. She won my heart over like no other dog ever has. As time went on, I started doing some research about the breed and this peeked my curiosity. I initially thought that Asia was the exception to the rule, she was great but all the others must be dangerous. I found out this was not the case. I learned that she was in fact the norm and that it was the "dangerous" dogs that were the exception.
During the time that I was "studying" this breed several things happened.
1. My love for this breed grew in a way I couldn't have imagined.
2. My anger about the type of abuse this breed suffers mounted.
3. My desire to help educate other people prompted me to develope this site.
My goal here is to play a role in helping people understand the true nature of the pitbull. As so many of us know, the media has done serious damage to the reputation of the "pitbull". I am hoping to help counteract some of this damage by showing the public the other side of the "pitbull". I am constantly on the look out for possitive stories from people who work with pitbulls, people who have heroic stories about these dogs and stories about families that share their homes with this wonderful breed.
I am in the process of writing a book with the hopes of exposing more people to these stories. I feel that with the number of stories that are flashed across our morning papers and evening news it is imperative that we counteract them with countless stories about all the possitive ways that these dogs contribute to society. If you are interested in participating in this project please see my
Pitbulls consent form page.
There are so many wonderful website that are all working towards this goal. There are also countless people who recognize how amazing these dogs are. These people work with these dogs, rescue them, fight against BSL & enforce the laws against those who abuse them. There are people who offer medical care to the ones that are rescued & foster the ones that need homes. The list of compassionate people is endless.
We may all feel as though the problem is to big for anyone of us to make a difference on our own but I ask you to remember this.
The Ark was build by one amateur, the titanic was build by a team of professionals.
Please join me in this fight by volunteering at your local shelter, provide foster care, spread the word about this beautiful breed and above all BE A RESPONSIBLE OWNER.
