Rooting For The Underdog - Pitbulls

Who doesn't love a great underdog story?

Well this is a great place to read about some beautiful Pitbulls that could have very easily met a tragic fate if it weren't for the wonderful people that are dedicated to pitbull rescue at Midwest Rescue and some very special people who stepped in and gave these loving dogs their forever homes.

Their work is never done though. If you are thinking of getting a dog then please take a look at some of the great dogs they are caring for that are looking for families.

AdoraBull Dogs Looking For Their Forever Homes

Sake

Sake (“Sock-ee”)

Little Miss Sunshine 2 Year Old Pit Bull Terrier Medium-sized Female

Happy, happy, joy, joy! Although her life hasn't been a bed of roses, Sake wins the crown for the world's happiest dog.

Sake would love to be your comedian, therapist, and bestest pal all rolled up in one! If you need more laughter and kisses in your life (and who doesn't?), Sake is your gal.

She is very affectionate and people oriented. She loves toys, treats, walks...pretty much everything and everyone. Sake gets along with most dogs if properly introduced.

You’d never guess this happy girl has a “checkered past.” She was abandoned—without food, water, or shelter—after her owner went to jail. And she was pregnant, too! All her pups have since found homes, but Sake’s still waiting her turn.

Give this sweet girl a loving home, and she'll repay you a million times over...we promise!

Sake loves everyone—but she doesn’t know her own strength. She would do best in a home with kids over ages 7. Sake would do best in a one-pet home, without other dogs or cats.

Sake is spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on shots. Sake would love to make your acquaintance! See for yourself how sweet she is—please contact us to arrange a tete a tete.

Addante

A special guy with special needs 3-4 year old pit/mastiff mix

Every so often, we hear from some remarkable soul—an angel, really—who says, "I want to adopt the dog in greatest need." Or, "I'm interested in whoever's been here the longest."

Well, that dog is Addante…and if his guardian angel is reading this, he needs you now. Are you looking for an awesome dog in desperate need of help? Here's your guy!

Addante was moments from being euthanized when we rescued him. He is a sweet, patient soul who wants only love. He has a great sense of humor and is a bit of a goofball...and yet there is something very noble about him.

He spends every day at a kennel in a 48" crate. Every time we have to put him back in, we have to tell him it's just not his turn yet.

He doesn't question why he's still here and not in a home like the others before him. He just wraps his paws around our necks and tries to hug our pain away.

After months of pain, Addante lost his battle with glaucoma in one eye. Sadly, part of his eye had to be removed. After reviewing our options, we chose an "intraocular prosthesis," a complex, expensive surgery. It's tough on our shoe-string budget, but it has allowed Addante to keep his good looks! He's blind in one eye, but most people can't tell. (Can you spot his "before" and "after" photos?)

Addante won't need special medical care, and his right eye is fine. But he needs a loving owner who can see past his handicap and love him for himself.

We know Addante is destined for great things--no matter what happens to him, he just gets sweeter. He won't be alone in his metal crate forever. We believe NOW is Addante's time to soar. Partner with us, please, in putting Addante just where he belongs…with YOU!

Momma and 10 Puppy's...YES 10 Puppies All Looking For Safe, Loving Homes

Diva mama and pups

These precious little babies were born the end of May. One of our brave, big-hearted volunteers rescued their very pregnant mom from an owner who wanted to put her down. What a terrible waste that would have been!

Three days later, she blessed us...10 times over! There are five boys and five girls in the litter. They are now being raised by that volunteer, in a lively, loving foster home filled with children and other pets (even rabbits!) So these pups will be up for anything, including active young households.

The puppies will be ready for adoption at the end of July, but we are accepting applications now. Not up for a puppy? Their mom, the beautiful Diva, will need a new home, too!
